On International Youth Day, the Global LEAD #WatchOurImpact Dialogue will celebrate USAID’s commitment to engage one million young changemakers over the next four years under the Global LEAD Initiative. The event will be an opportunity for development professionals and young changemakers around the globe, including those from YouthLead.org and UNICEF's Generation Unlimited networks, to share their insights on the impact youth are making around the world. Co-hosted by USAID Administrator Samantha Power and GenU Board of Trustees Member Ilwad Elman (youngest Nobel Peace Prize Nominee from Somalia). The event will feature winners of the #WatchOurImpact Digital Storytelling Contest, sponsored by USAID’s Global Leadership and Education Advancing Development (Global LEAD) Initiative, YouthPower2: Learning and Evaluation (YP2LE), and UNICEF's Generation Unlimited (GenU). All are welcome to join us to celebrate the innovations and stories of how young people are leading change to meet key development priorities. During the online event, we will:
  • Celebrate the winners of the Global LEAD #WatchOurImpact contest;
  • Highlight USAID’s Global LEAD commitment to engage one million young changemakers in the key development priority areas over the next four years;
  • Share the important work of young changemakers globally;
  • Discuss how youth can create change and share your stories;
  • Provide open peer-to-peer dialogue time for youth to connect, share, and inspire one another; and
  • Discover great resources to improve your programs.
ABOUT GLOBAL LEAD Global Leadership and Education Advancing Development (Global LEAD) is USAID’s Agency-wide initiative to support the capacity and commitment of emerging young leaders to become partners in building self-reliant communities, as well as to meet key development priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals. Global LEAD serves as an umbrella that responds to the priorities of emerging young leaders and Missions to build a continuum of education, civic engagement, and leadership development across sectors. ABOUT GENERATION UNLIMITED (GenU) Generation Unlimited (GenU) is a global multi-sector partnership to meet the urgent need for expanded education, training, and employment opportunities for young people, aged 10 to 24, on an unprecedented scale. Despite the challenges that exist – or perhaps because of them! – leaders around the world are responding positively to GenU’s mission and asking how they can help. Politicians, CEOs, foundation heads, and civic leaders are recognizing that forging innovative collaborations with young people at the center is the best way forward. ABOUT YOUTHPOWER2: LEARNING AND EVALUATION (YP2LE) YP2LE is a USAID-funded activity focused on building and disseminating the evidence on Positive Youth Development (PYD). YP2LE’s goal is to give program implementers, researchers, and young changemakers the information, tools, and resources they need to develop high-quality, impactful, and sustainable youth programs. ABOUT YOUTH LEAD Launched in 2018 under the USAID-funded project YouthPower Learning and continued under YP2LE, YouthLead.org is designed for young changemakers making a positive impact in their community through service, activism, advocacy, education, and entrepreneurship. Our network members are focused on finding solutions by connecting people, ideas, and resources to tackle critical issues affecting young people at home and around the world.
