This September, the United Nations Food Systems Summit (UNFSS) will be convened as part of the Decade of Action to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals by 2030. The ‘people’s summit’ is mobilising people from all around the world to shape a better world – one where everyone can have access to safe and nutritious diets, while simultaneously promoting planetary health and promoting human rights.
To support this key moment in food systems transformation, young people around the world have been mobilising and at the forefront of campaigns, projects and organisations, working towards a common goal to transform global food systems. This International Youth Day 2021, (August 12th) we are celebrating ‘youth innovation for human and planetary health’. Organised on behalf of the CO-CREATE project to celebrate the theme meaningful participation of young people, our event will showcase stories and advice from young activists on how they would like to be involved in initiatives beyond the upcoming UN Food Systems Summit, while outlining their priorities for key decision makers for the future.
Objectives:
Increase understanding of how to involve young people meaningfully at all levels and stages of programmes, policies, and campaigns development.
Showcase inspiring stories of how young people are driving food systems transformation.
Provide an advocacy platform for young people to share their views on priority policies at the UNFSS 2021.
