DCEFF is teaming up with Grist to bring you a free virtual screening of ONCE UPON A TIME IN VENEZUELA. The award-winning documentary and a conversation between director Anabel Rodríguez Ríos and Grist CEO Brady Piñero Walkinshaw will be available to stream Thursday, September 23, through Sunday, September 26.

SYNOPSIS:

At the edge of Venezuela’s Lake Maracaibo is the small floating village of Congo Mirador. Now sinking into sediment, this once-prosperous fishing community is unraveling after years of criminal pollution and government neglect. Focusing on two fierce, independent women who epitomize opposing sides of this vulnerable community, Once Upon a Time in Venezuela is a stunning microcosm of a global battle to safeguard cultural heritage and retain political relevancy.
