The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) will only be achieved if the necessary investments are made in surgical, obstetric, trauma and anaesthesia (SOTA) care.

The systems that deliver emergency and essential SOTA care contribute to strong health systems that can weather crises like the COVID-19 pandemic, while continuing to provide healthcare for all. However, with 5 billion people lacking access to safe, timely and affordable SOTA care, progress on SDG 3 will remain limited.

And the intersections don’t stop at health. Panelists will discuss the other SDGs, including gender equity, climate change mitigation, economic development, poverty alleviation and more, and the ways in which investing in SOTA care systems can reinforce sustainable development.
