Showcasing the vital importance of using citizen-centric data in urban planning to increase access to healthy and sustainable food.
The governments of Colombia and Denmark, in partnership with Gehl Architects and Novo Nordisk A/S, is inviting you to an inspiring virtual roundtable.
Against the backdrop of the 2021 UN Food System Summit, this roundtable will provide an opportunity to discuss experiences and learnings on promoting healthy diets globally through city planning and an understanding of modern urban food environments. The discussion will be informed by a number of Foodscape-analyses conducted in Bogotá and Houston. In addition, we will discuss food through the lenses of access, health and carbon and how community-based action can simultaneously improve food security, the environment and health by changing to an accessible healthy and sustainable diet.
Objectives
Through the sharing of insights and learnings from three cases, potential policy implications and debate between the panellists the objective is to:
- Focus on healthy and sustainable diets as a solution to the syndemic problems on food, carbon and health
- Promote the importance of food access in communities and local neighbourhoods
- Showcase the importance of integrating participatory processes into city planning & development processes
- Showcase cities that are succeeding with regards to access to food, lowering carbon emissions and improving health
- Getting cities to demand their own foodscape and lived experience analysis for more robust citizen centric data
