ZEF’s Gender Group cordially invites you to a virtual (zoom) event with international experts on gender-based violence and development on the occasion of the UN International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Date and time: Thursday, November 25, 2021 / 4 pm – 6 pm CET

Not much is known about gender-based violence and its effects on rural development outcomes. During the COVID-19 pandemic, domestic violence has increased and received more public attention than before. New questions emerge regarding the role gender-based violence is actually playing for rural development beyond direct health and well-being impacts. Does it affect educational achievements of children, agricultural production or the decision to adopt sustainable agricultural practices? Does it play a role for the management of natural resources or the protection of biodiversity? And if yes, what could be done about it?

Four experts from science and practice from Asia, Africa, Latin-America and Europe will present answers from their work and discuss pathways for change, based on their experience.
