This webinar offers the opportunity to enhance clinical, theoretical, and culturally sensitive skills to work with Latinos using a Gestalt approach. Participants will be presented with the core elements of the Gestalt theory, including the figure-and-ground element, the experiment, and the polarities (the ways in which Gestalt interprets resistance in the healing process). This webinar will explore the individuals’ beliefs, value systems, and emotional roots that are linked to the substance use disorder. Finally, this webinar will present the humanistic elements adopted by Gestalt, including congruency, positive unconditional regard, empathy, and acceptance as key ingredients to foster the relationship with Latino clients who suffer from a substance use disorder.
