The inaugural Conference on Public Health in Africa (CPHIA 2021) comes at a critical time on the continent and in the world. COVID-19 has strained health systems globally, and with limited access to vaccines in Africa, the pandemic has laid bare deep inequities in access to healthcare and scientific innovations. CPHIA will create a unique platform where African researchers, policymakers and stakeholders can share perspectives and research findings in public health, while ushering in a new era of strengthened scientific collaboration and innovation across the continent.

CPHIA 2021 will put a spotlight on emergency health response in Africa and allow participants from around the world to share and learn about progress made, best practices in public health interventions and the latest in innovative research. This will become an annual conference, hosted by the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention and African Union. CPHIA 2021 is being organized by an Organizing Committee with members from around the world.

CPHIA is a three-day conference that aims to help accelerate progress in the fight against COVID-19, while also addressing long-standing health emergencies such as HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria. By creating more collaborative networks and encouraging multi-sectoral coordination, the conference can help improve solidarity and speed in responding to future threats.

We hope that CPHIA will grow into the preeminent annual public health gathering in the region.
