Caste is a historically rooted source of discrimination that creates hierarchies and modalities of inclusion and exclusion. With roots in India and Hindu society, it is a form of discrimination visible in countries across South Asia. Isabel Wilkerson, in her book, draws on caste-based discrimination to describe the experiences of racism in the United States. The panelists will share their reading of Isabel Wilkerson’s book based on their ongoing scholarship and lived experiences of discrimination in India and the United States.
This event is in collaboration with the National Foundation for India.
