Transitioning to Clean Cooking Webinar Series: Session 3

Data is key to tracking and monitoring progress to assess global progress in the quest for sustainable, affordable, reliable and modern energy services for all. This webinar will focus on the latest SDG 7 tracking progress report which is published annually by the custodian agencies of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 7 on energy. The webinar will then transition into a discussion of different pathways to accelerating progress to clean cooking, particularly building on the upcoming UN High Level Dialogue on Energy, the recent launch of the High-Level Coalition on Health and Energy, and COP26.

    Dr. Jessica Lewis is a Technical Officer in the Air Quality and Health Unit at the World Health Organization (WHO). She coordinates the development of the Clean Household Energy Solutions Toolkit (CHEST) and provides technical expertise to countries for implementation of the WHO Guidelines on indoor air quality.
  • Frank van der Vleuten, Policy Coordinator, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Netherlands
    Mr. Frank van der Vleuten works as policy coordinator on climate finance and energy in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. He is a trained energy engineer and throughout his career has been working on cooking solutions, in particular improved cookstoves and domestic biogas systems. He coordinates the contribution of the Netherlands to the High Level Dialogue on Energy as global champion for energy access.
  • Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, Member of Parliament, Sierra Leone
    Dr Kandeh Yumkella is a distinguished development economist and an expert in agricultural economics with over three decades of experience. He is founder and CEO of The Energy Nexus Network (TENN), a regional ecosystem hub for sustainable energy solutions. Previously Dr Yumkella served for almost two decades in the United Nations system.
  • Dymphna van der Lans, CEO, Clean Cooking Alliance
    Ms. Dymphna van der Lans is the Chief Executive Officer of the Clean Cooking Alliance. Dymphna brings more than 25 years of experience managing and leading global development, energy, and climate initiatives in the nonprofit and private sectors.
