Leaders today understand that making progress with diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility is a journey of cultural change that they must undertake.
What are you doing to propel change and inclusion within your company culture and beyond?
Diversity, equity and inclusion — commonly referred to as DEI — has become increasingly important in the workplace. Employers must now actively work to create meaningful change in spite of the history of injustice that has marginalized underrepresented groups within the workplace.
In the last year the demand for anti-racist training has sky-rocketed: the perceived “obvious” starting point to tackling racism in any organisation. This formal training has often been substantiated by Employees of Colour providing more informal education eg. via resource groups, ‘reverse’ mentoring, team catch-ups, etc.
The burden of work shouldn’t be on marginalised groups, but it’s useful for POCs and allies alike to know how to best educate others should they wish to do so.

Drawing on my experience as a trainer, facilitator and consultant, as well as proven learning & development research, I’ll be sharing some tools and methodologies for getting anti-racist (and more widely, anti-oppression) education to really hit the mark. And you might as well hear this upfront: we’ll be steering well clear of the ‘unconscious bias brigade’! In this session, we’ll be covering some of the following:
- Cognitive learning and attitudinal learning: what on earth are they and what’s most effective?
- How can we anchor ourselves for difficult conversations in and out of the workplace?
- Shame & accountability: how do we empower others to “do the work”?
- From virtual reality to theatre techniques: what cool, new training is out there for the picking?
Join us as we strive to move the conversation forward. This discussion is open to professionals and business owners interested in learning more about leadership for a changing demographic.

About Ellen Muthu
Ellen Muthu (she/her/hers), is the founder of Equitea & Coffee, a UK-based boutique equity and inclusion consultancy that empowers clients to identify and tackle inequities at the heart of their organisations. To date, her focus has been on building inclusive, anti-racist workplaces through initiatives that include company-wide inclusion audits, reverse mentoring programmes, senior leader allyship training and policy re-design. Previously, she worked as a financial services consultant leading a Race employee network. The best part of her job? Seeing clients engage in transformative learning, exploring their understanding of the world and reframing their worldview through lenses of equity, privilege and oppression. In addition to calling on her own lived experience, she partners with disability, LGBTQ+ and trans inclusion experts in order to make sure that voices from those marginalised communities are amplified, not spoken over.
